Black & Minority Ethnic(BME) library services Forum seeks members!

Bristol Libraries are working towards expanding their community consultation process to improve the services to the BME communities in Bristol. The intention is to establish a "BME Library Community Consultative Forum" by the end of October 2010.

The purpose of the forum will be to advise and make suggestions towards the BME languages stock selection, suggest ways to improve customer services and service delivery. The forum should include people (both male & female) from most of the BME representative communities. It is hoped that this forum will be set up by October 2010 and the first meeting held in November 2010.

The meetings will be quarterly (November, February, May and August) and will last about 2 hours each time. The meetings will be held at various easy to reach libraries premises, community organisations premises and at any other suitable venue. They will normally take place over a coffee morning style gatherings. Library suppliers booklists and catalogues will be made available for the stock selection and suggestions at each meeting.

Bristol Libraries are looking to get individuals nominated for this task. Two people can be nominated two people (male & female) to represent an organisation or any other individual (user & non- user of library services) interested in the provision of library services.

Nominations are sought by the end of the month.
