Research into Bullying of Gay Men
Wayne Bateman from Cambridge University is conducting a research project into the experiences of bullying upon homosexual men. As a gay teenager, himself, Wayne was bullied and feels this had long term implications upon his self-esteem and identity which have outlived the actual instances of bullying. This is a conclusion that many studies into homosexual bullying have found.
Wayne’s research is supported by the University of Cambridge and he is hoping it will highlight the impact of bullying within different life stages. Wayne also hopes this information can be used to fuel any anti-bullying campaigns and educational interventions aimed specifically at supporting young gay men.
