"I am more able to listen, more positive and have found a way of thinking through situations.  I am a more confident, well rounded employee" Development Worker set participant

As part of the Volunteer Management Project, Volunteering Bristol and Voscur are offering Volunteer Managers and those who manage volunteers as part of their role the opportunity to take part in an Action Learning set between April and September 2010.

What is action learning?

Action Learning is a simple and powerful tool of personal, professional and organisational development.  It involves working on real issues, focusing on learning and implementing solutions.  It is learning by doing.

How does it work?

Action Learning occurs in a group called a 'set' - a space where peers work in a supportive and collaborative way around real issues that each are facing in their work.

There are up to seven people in a set.  The set meets monthly, for a whole day and Voscur will provide a facilitator to guide the set.

What are the benefits for you and your organisation?

There are many benefits from working in an action learning set:

  • A more confident and supported Volunteer Manager
  • Bringing different perspectives to challenges and decision making
  • Offering creative, open-minded solutions to work issues

Who can take part?

This action learning set is for those people who manage volunteers in their role who work in voluntary , community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations in Bristol.

When does it start?

The first session is on Tuesday 27 April 2010 (10am - 3pm) Venue to be confirmed. Deadline for applications is Friday 1st April 2010.

Cost:

We are able to offer this programme for £90 per organisation (6 facilitated sessions - £15 per session) because BASIS 2 is contributing to the cost of the programme.  Bursaries are available.
