No more giant cheques - find other ways to connect with businesses and benefit your cause

Businesses engage with their local communities in a wide range of ways; the traditional scenario of a large company giving an over-sized cheque to a worthy social cause once a year is now considered outdated. Sustainable partnerships with businesses present a growing variety of opportunities for voluntary sector organisations.

Recognising this, the Support Hub has been working with Business Unusual to put on a training day for local voluntary groups/organisations. 'Building Effective Partnerships with Business' takes place in Bristol on the 1 October, 2012. The course will provide advice, guidance and practical suggestions to apply when starting or developing partnerships with the business sector, including:

* Identifying what your organisation has to offer and gain from partnerships with business.

* Gaining a range of methods and approaches for building partnerships.

* Hearing from several local businesses about their current partnerships with the voluntary and community sector.

Business panellists on the day will include representatives from MITIE, Burges Salmon and Asda.
