Equality Act 2010
Equality Act 2010 - commenced Friday 1st October - are you ready?
Around 90% of the Equality Act 2010 will commence on 1 October 2010. The Government is currently considering how to implement the remaining provisions in the best way for business and for others with rights and responsibilities under the Act and will announce their decisions in due course.

The Equality Act – non Statutory Guidance documents now available
The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) has produced guides explaining people’s rights and responsibilities under the Equality Act 2010 which takes effect from October.
There are two versions of each set of guidance, one aimed at people wanting advice on their rights; the other for those with responsibilities under the law.
The guides cover two key areas of the Act:
- Employment
- Services, Public Functions and Associations

The Government Equality office has produced useful documents summarising what you need to know about the Equality Act 2010. The guides include specific summaries for VCSE organisations, businesses and public bodies. Meanwhile ACAS has produced a guideline for employers
