Silver Surfer Day - May 21st 2010

This years Silver Surfers' Day provides multi-site opportunities for groups and individuals to test out and get support for their IT use or first steps in using a computer.

Silver Surfers’ Day is the biggest, national campaign to promote use of digital technologies by older people. It is run by Digital Unite and was started in 2002. Silver Surfers’ Day is its ninth glorious year.

At Knowle West Media Centre there will be literally  digital "fish & chips" - an afternoon of fun, family-focused computer training, topped off with a free fish and chip supper. Call Makala or Rachel on 0117 903 0444 for more information.

Beginners and Improvers in Horfield can take advantage of the informal Silver Surfer event being hosted by the University of the West of England, a minibus is provided and visitors will be apired with a student volunteer. Call Jo at UWE on 0117 328 251

At the Vassal centre in Fishponds there will be a a free talk and informal taster sessions for older people (50+) who have little or no experience of computers or the internet. Contact 07866426744.
