Heartcliff Health and Environment Action Group (HHEAG)

Who are you?
A local community group which works in Hartcliffe and Withywood and the BS13 area. A community development project working on health and environmental issues with local residents.

When and why did you start up?
Started in 1990 as a result of a survey which asked people what their health needs were in the area. The results showed that people's health needs were related to their environment and people were talking about a broad definition of health, including cost and access to good quality food and nutrition.

Describe your organisation in three words.
Friendly, non-bureaucratic, encouraging.

If your group ruled the world, what would be your first act as world leaders?
To eradicate poverty.

What is your most memorable achievement?
Recently: to have local people addressing a public health conference in Glasgow, which was very well received, to have the Community Cooking Room built and have our name mentioned in the National Framework of Coronary Hearth Disease as a model of good practice on our food work.

Who are your funders?
