Toxic Mix of Circumstances: NCVO Report on the Effects of the Recession on the VCS
NCVO have released a report today with some shocking figures about the effects of the recession on the Voluntary and Community Sector. Described as a 'toxic mix of circumstances', the UK Civil Society Almanac 2012 highlights how an increased demand for services, rising costs and unprecedented fall in income for the sector have left it struggling to 'swim against the tide' and cope with the swell in demand for their services.
Sir Stuart Ethrington, NCVO's Chief Executive said: 'This new research shows how charities have had to spend every last penny just to keep their heads above water. The charity sector has already taken a significant hit and we must act quickly to ensure that communities are not deprived of vital services.'
Voscur have recently released a survey to assess to effect of the recession and local cuts on Bristol's Voluntary and Community Sector. Please help us to gather evidence by completing this survey, results of which will be used in our voice and influence work with key policy makers in the city. http://www.survey.bris.ac.uk/voscur/impactoncuts
