Green ICT Survey - last call for submissions
In 2010 Voscur will be working closely with Connecting Bristol in a special effort to reduce carbon emmissions from ICT use by Voluntary sector groups in Bristol. We hope that this work will deliver productivity gains, efficiency and costs savings for groups, and make a material contribution to the battle against climate change.
Emissions from non-domestic ICT use in Bristol have been calculated as 67,258 tonnes of CO2 per anuum(1) and despite the recession ICT use is still growing at 6% per annum. It is the fastest accelerating producer sector of carbon emmissions, even currently outpacing the airline industry. However with ICT driving 50% of growth within Developed countries, we need serious efforts to take serious steps to "Green our ICT" and reduce it's carbon footprint.
Voscur will be offering free concultancy to member organisations to create action plans around implementing a green ict strategy, developing resources for groups to use to ensure sustainable procurement practices and encouraging Green ICT Champions within the voluntary sector to get involved with the community growing around Connecting bristols latest of ICT and calculate our own footprint as a first step, so if you would like to be kept informed and get involved please complete our survey at http://www.voscur.org/ict/carbonfootprintsurvey
