Consultation begins on 'Community Right to Challenge' and 'Community Right to Buy - Assets of Community Value.
The government has launched consultation papers on two significant parts of its 'Big Society' policy agenda.
The Community Right to buy - Assets of Community Value would give community groups 'a fair chance to bid to take over assets and facilities that are important to them'.
The Community Right to Challenge would give 'community and voluntary bodies, parish councils and authorities employees' the right 'to bid to take over the running of local authority services'.

The Neighbourhood Network - part of the new VCS Assembly - will hold its first event looking at these and other proposals contained in the Localism Bill. The event is expected to take place in late March or early April - Full details to be announce soon.
