CSV, in partnership with National Grid, are to embark on a new volunteering drive to get 9,000 professionals and recent retirees to invest their knowledge and skills in more than 400 voluntary sector groups and organisations over the next year.

The 'Professionals Programme' has been backed by a £705,603 grant from the Cabinet Office’s Social Action Fund and has been launched by Nick Hurd, Minister for Civil Society.

The Programme follows research by CSV which highlights the need for professional skills in the voluntary sector, in particular business skills (fundraising, marketing, accountancy and finance and IT and web design).

Minister for Civil Society Nick Hurd said: “I have seen what a difference someone with business experience can make to a small local charity. It is always striking how much they too get out of the experience personally. This campaign is a chance to inspire more people to use their talent and knowledge to put something really positive back into their community.”
