A Reminder to Local Authorities about Three Month Notice Period for Cuts to the Voluntary Sector

NCVO, ACEVO and NAVCA have written a letter to all local authorities reminding them of the Government's official advice of a three month notice period for any funding cuts. This advice was introduced in 2011 as part of the new Best Value Guidance by the Department for Communities and Local Government. It has statutory force, which means that the guidance must be taken into account by local authorities when they are making funding decisions. It applies to all local authorities. If you are expecting funding cuts in April, read the guide to challenging funding cuts.

NCVO are trying to build up a picture of where the cuts are hitting the sector hardest. Working together with them and sharing information can help to make sure the voluntary sector is treated fairly when public bodies are trimming their budgets. Report your experiences and see the impact of cuts region by region using NCVO cuts website. Voscur are also keen to get a picture of how the local VCS sector in Bristol and those it supports are being affected. To help us do this, please forward your experiences and comments to: jessica@voscur.org
