Financial Exclusion and Financial Capability: The Next Steps

27 Mar 2008 - 09:30

Held at One Great George Street - London.

Financial exclusion remains a growing problem in the UK. The Government and the financial services industry have taken some positive first steps towards tackling this. However, there remains much to be done if the Government’s goals for financial inclusion are to be achieved.

The Government is determined to achieve these goals, and has announced a new policy framework for 2008-11, including a new Financial Inclusion Fund to maintain action at the current level of intensity. And on Friday July 13 2007, it launched its “now let’s talk money campaign”. This has seen key organisations, whose customers are struggling financially, working together to encourage more people to use the range of money and debt services that are available. The campaign is part of the biggest single government investment to tackle financial exclusion.

Delegates at this event will be able to discuss and debate the key issues including: Financial education and access to financial advice; The role of the Government, the Financial Services Authority and other bodies and organisations in promoting financial inclusion; From Financial Inclusion to Social Inclusion.
