National Dementia Strategy Meeting

4 Mar 2008 - 12:15
4 Mar 2008 - 15:45

Do you have dementia or are you a carer, family member or supporter of someone with dementia?

The Department of Health is committed to developing the first ever
National Dementia Strategy. The strategy will address the care and
support needs of people with dementia, their carers, families and
supporters. The Strategy is due for publication in October 2008.

Service users and carers are entitled to payment of expenses and a fee
for their time, (£25 for the session 1.30 to 3.45pm).  A sandwich
buffet lunch is also provided and will be from 12.15- 1.30pm.

Engagement and listening events are going to be held in each region to
help shape the strategy. These events are being arranged in partnership
with the Alzheimer’s Society. The events will be an opportunity to give
your views on:

  • Improving awareness of dementia
  • Early diagnosis and intervention
  • Improving the quality of care

We can collect your views through the way that suits you best – this
could be through meeting us on a one to one basis or in a small
discussion group at one of our informal meetings. Or you may wish to
submit your ideas by post in writing.

We will be holding  informal meetings which you can choose to attend either during the morning or afternoon.
