An invitation
to all those working with parents in East Central Bristol:
Bring your ideas and
experience to plan a conference on
Addressing
street violence: gangs and weapons
An
opportunity for groups to come together to create a free
day-long
conference for all those working with parents in the city.
The aims of day are
to:
·
enable workers
from the range of approaches operating in the city to pool their thoughts and
experience in how to work around the issues of gangs, weapons and violence.
·
allow workers
across the area to network and build new connections
·
result in a
new, shared programme of work around how to address issues of gangs, weapons
and violence
·
create an
action plan as to how such a programme will be delivered across the city in the
future, involving parenting workers from all sections of the community.

conference/leading a workshop?

Background
This development
day will be funded by the Respect for All pilot programme. The programme is
working in East Central Bristol to ‘reduce
the attraction status and need for involvement in gang, gun and knife crime’
by young people in the city. The aim is to help young people of all backgrounds
develop ‘a social awareness and
resilience that will allow them to prevent their own involvement in gangs and
anti-social behaviour’.
The Respect for All
programme recognises the importance of working with parents around these key
and difficult issues. The grant is providing an opportunity for everyone working
with parents in Bristol’s East Central area to build on their shared experience
to develop a new programme of work.
