Ending Islamophobia- a women’s workshop
Venue: The Pierian Centre, 27 Portland Square, St Pauls, Bristol BS2.
Attendance is free, workshop followed by lunch.
Dr Christien van den Anker brings her experience of working on all forms of discrimination and intersectionality to a session aimed at any woman who wants to learn more about the subject and engage with their own belief systems.
Christien’s workshop is open to women of all backgrounds, Muslim and non-Muslim, professional and non-professional. Previous workshops have attracted journalists, police, educators and policy-makers, but Christien hopes that many people with a purely personal interest will want to attend.
“Non-Muslim women can learn about their own role in discriminatory practices and attitudes,” she says, “and Muslim women can address their internalised messages of exclusion and address the places where they lack self-belief.”
