Women in Barton Hill have spent the past few months working on an innovative arts and health project which charts their journey from their place of birth to Barton Hill. The project was organised by Community at Heart’s arts and wellbeing teams with the aim of building relationships with local women to find out what health services they would like to see in the area. Artist Hilary Ramsden worked alongside the women to turn their stories into a fantastic piece of art.

The finished piece of artwork is an impressive three-tiered wall hanging made of acrylic and acetate, which includes maps, personal stories and photos, and will on display to the general public from 15 May.

At the launch event on 15 May there will the chance to sample foods from Somalia and Bangladesh with poetry, folk stories and dancing from both cultures.

The launch event will take place on Thursday 15 May from 1pm to 3pm at Wellspring Healthy Living Centre, Beam Street in Barton Hill and everyone is welcome to attend.
