Having your say about the Dove Lane regeneration projects

16 Jun 2008 - 18:00
16 Jun 2008 - 20:30

Held at Kuumba, Hepburn Street, St Paul’s, Bristol. Food, refreshments and children’s activities will be available.
The open evening will follow a day of placemaking workshops involving St Paul’s Unlimited, community and developer representatives and officers from Bristol City Council at which we will be exchanging ideas on what kind of place the Dove Lane area should be.

The open evening will open up this debate to the wider St Paul’s community. We would like your ideas for the Dove Lane Area, including:
• what kind of place you want it to be

• what would work well in St Paul’s and

• what is the spirit of St Paul’s

Material from the workshops will be available for you to see and we would really like to hear your thoughts on what the Dove Lane area should be like. Your comments will be reported back to the Placemaking Workshops the following day and could genuinely influence the future of this part of St Paul’s.

Hadaad adigu, ama qof aad garanaysaa, uu jeclaan lahaa in uu helo macluumaad la tashi oo ku qoran qaab ama luqad tan ka duwan, fadlan nala soo xidhiidh ka dibna waxanu isku dayi doonaa in aanu ku caawino.

Dove Lane Regeneration
Proposals: Update

Following the public consultation in summer 2007, the area being considered for development has expanded. The developers, Places for People and The PG Group, have joined forces with Bristol City Council to be joint applicants for the planning application. As part of the proposals a new purpose-built facility would be provided to accommodate:
•    Cabot Primary School – increasing the size of the school to accommodate 420 pupils

•    The Welsman Centre – reprovided as a new of. ce facility

•    St Paul’s Day Nursery and St James’ & St Agnes’ Nursery – reprovided as a new children’s centre catering for children aged 0-4 years.

•    Doctor’s Surgery – Discussions are taking place regarding the relocation of Sussex Place surgery into the building.

Outdoor play space will be provided alongside the new building to serve the Children’s Centre and Primary School.
The existing Welsman building, St Paul’s Day Nursery building and part of the existing Cabot primary school grounds will be redeveloped for housing as part of the regeneration proposals.
Discussions are also taking place with Bristol City Council about changes to the layout of the St Paul’s Community Sports Centre to improve accessibility for St Paul’s residents. It could also provide new facilities for the Empire Boxing club.
We are planning to hold further public consultation on the development proposals in September 2008 with the planning application to be submitted in December 2008.
