Setting the Pace is the first Conference of this kind for the South West Strategic Health Authority. 

The 60th Anniversary of the NHS is an ideal time to reflect on the ambitions of the 1944 White Paper that laid down the foundations of its creation with the words "everybody irrespective of means, age, sex or occupation shall have the opportuntity to benefit from the best and most up-to-date medical and allied services available." 

Those principles continue to govern the work of the NHS, which is why promoting Equality and Human Rights is such a central aspect of all that we do.
