Towards a Strategy to Support Volunteering in Health & Social Care - Consultation Workshops

The Department of Health launched on 03 June 2008 a 'Vision towardsa Volunteering Strategy', for consultation.  The aim is to promote the role of volunteering in the context of health and social care reform, and inform improvements to suport volunteering across the health and social care system.

The Department of Health recognises that volunteering plays a huge potential role in the context of more flexible, responsive and patient-focused health and social care services.  This consultation exercise is designed to discuss and debate the five key elements of the 'Towards a Strategy to Support Volunteering in Health & Social Care Document'

  • Support for individual volunteers
  • Effective management within organisations
  • Commissioning environment and infrastructure
  • Promoting partnership
  • Leadership

Colleagues are invited from the NHS, Primary Care Trusts, Local Authorities, Voluntary and Community Organisations and Social Enterprises as well as other volunteer involving organisations and volunteers themselves including service users and groups that represent them, to contribute to the development of this strategy to support and develop volunteering across health and social care.

This consultation will end on 30th September 2008.
