In these difficult and testing economic times, effective trustees are critical to the survival of not-for-profit organisations. There are important considerations when appointing, managing and removing trustees and this workshop looks at the practical and legal considerations. In particular:

  •   Appointing trustees - how to select the best person for the job and the minefield of practical and legal issues to be considered.
  •  On-going competence - how to assess performance effectively and best practice.
  •  Managing the relationship with trustees - a look at declarations of interest, the management of conflict and other legal issues.
  •  Removal of trustees -the grounds for removal, members' statutory powers and avoiding challenge. The Workshop is presented by Jeremy Harrison and Ian Hempseed. Jeremy is the Chief Executive of Charity HR, a division of Harrison Rose Limited, a company that provides specialist HR support to the not-for-profit sector and he has had extensive experience in the field of HR. Ian is a Partner in Hempsons and Head of their Third Sector Team. Ian regularly advises charities on improving their governance structures and systems.
