Home-Start Volunteer Administrative Assistant
Main Purpose of the Work
• To provide administrative support to the staff and Management Committee, as appropriate and agreed.
• To ensure effective communication between all parties involved with the Scheme.
Key Areas and Main Tasks of the Work
• General office duties which may include word-processing, photocopying, filing, mailing and making up packs of information
• Assist with hospitality for visitors to the office.
• To cover the telephone in the absence of the Administrator after training
• Implement office procedures as necessary
The Volunteer Administrative Assistant is expected to work within the ethos of Home-Start and standards of practice. The need to respect confidentiality is paramount, as is a mature and flexible approach to the work.
The Volunteer Administrative Assistant will agree specific tasks or projects which are administrative in nature with the scheme Administrator
What does Home-Start Offer?
• Continuing support and training sessions, as required, will be arranged by the Scheme Administrator and Senior Coordinator as appropriate.
• Volunteers will always have sufficient back-up to enable them to work effectively. They will also have supervision and support
• Travel expenses will be paid at the normal volunteer expenses role.
• Home-Start can provide references for Volunteers seeking future employment or training after 12 months of volunteering and provide useful experience for people wanting to gain administrative experience.
• There are also opportunities for self-development and social contact with others in Home-Start.
