Board member - Self Help Community Housing
The Voluntary sector is facing much uncertainly with cuts in funding and changes in the way services are commissioned and delivered. We still feel that there is a role for small providers that are in touch with the people they serve and we are looking for individuals with passion and energy to help us develop our work further.
Self Help work with families and single people offering housing related support with the aim of preventing tenancy breakdown. We also signpost people to other services that we think may help. The majority of the people we work with have a history of repeated tenancy failure and we are proud of the success we have in tenancy sustainment and the amazing way many of our tenants can turn their lives around with a little encouragement and a lot of perseverance.
We would love to hear from you if you have any of the following skills/ experience or knowledge or if you have any others we might have missed:-
• Experience of running or developing a business or social enterprise
• Financial Management/ Accountancy
• Housing and Homelessness
• Getting people back in work and training
• Built Asset Management/property refurbishment
• Housing Development/ Empty Homes work
• Local Authority Strategy
• Supported Housing
