UK Project Assistant
Organisation Description: Temwa is a UK registered charity who’s objective is to build the capacity rural communities in Malawi need to drive their own development. We support communities in improving health education services, agriculture, forestry, irrigation, skills training, and schools.
Job Description: The UK Project Assistant will assist the UK Manager, UK Development Manager and the Fundraising Coordinator with day to day operations which include; organising and assisting with fundraising events and activities, recruiting and managing volunteers, maintaining the website, marketing, PR, donor communication and providing support needed to the team in Malawi.
Key Duties:
1) Organising fundraising events and activities:
• Supporting or forming idea’s for fundraising activities
• Liaising with venues, artists, designers, printers
• Collating press info
• Promotion and marketing
• Managing ticket sales
2) Recruiting and managing volunteers:
• Communicating with applicants
• Organising meetings
• Managing workloads
• Providing ongoing support and guidance.
3) Marketing & PR:
• Helping produce the quarterly newsletter
• Maintaining website content
• Managing online networking sites (Facebook, Myspace, Twitter etc.)
• Producing press releases
• Seeking media publicity
Experience, qualifications and requirements:
• Experience of working or volunteering with NGOs or charities essential.
• IT and word processing skills essential.
• Experience of organising fundraising events desirable.
• Excellent written and communication skills essential.
• Experience of working with websites desirable.
Temwa was registered as a UK charity in December 2003 and currently employs 23 full time members of staff in Malawi, with a part time Manager and Development Manager in the UK who are supported by a team of part time volunteers. We believe the role will provide an interesting and rewarding opportunity in a small, dynamic and not always conventional organisation. As a rapidly growing NGO, working as a key part of the UK team will give you a pivotal role in the organisations ongoing development. As the UK Project Administrator you will have the opportunity to learn an array of new skills while directly seeing the benefit of the work undertaken in the UK and how it supports the projects in Malawi.
