Group Scout Leader
The 26th Bristol Scout Group in Westbury on Trym is a large, successful and thriving group, providing exciting, adventurous activities to over 150 boys and girls aged 6-14. The group is currently celebrating its centenary, and the current Group Scout Leader is stepping down.
The group has a large team of skilled and experienced adult leaders, who provide a weekly programme of activities for it's members. However, for the long term success of the group, great management is as important as great people on the front line.
The role of Group Scout Leader breaks down into three main areas :
1) Act as line manager for the adults in the group, ensuring that recruitment, induction, training and reviews are carried out.
2) Oversee the programmes delivered across the group, ensuring that sections work together, and the high quality is maintained.
3) Develop and manage a long-term plan for the group, ensuring that it remains successful and develops into the future
If you are a skilled manager, who can lead an organisation, and work with a range of people, and if you can spare the time to make a difference for young people, then this role could be for you. Prior experience of scouting would be helpful, but certainly isn't essential - the current team of leaders at the group have over 200 years' experience between them!
