Girls & Young Women’s Worker (Youth Worker in Charge)
Female staff team member(s) required to further develop our work with young people particularly young women and girls.
Youth Moves is the lead organisation for youth work in the wards of Knowle, Filwood, Hengrove and Windmill Hill, is based at The Park and delivers open access youth club sessions, detached street-based work, work in schools and alternative education provision and specific project work focussing on target groups or issues young people may face growing up.
As part of the project we have Positive Futures funding from the Home Office, which is given with the aim of engaging young people aged 10-19 and seeing the importance of building strong relationships between young people and adults as the most positive and lasting way to affect change in deprived and disadvantaged neighbourhoods.
The project has been running since 2001, is based in the middle of the community we serve, and we are looking for some outstanding people to help develop the organisation further.
We offer the chance to work with some of the most amazing young people in Bristol, access to fantastic training, flexible working, a great staff team and network of partners to support our programmes.
The main aims of the post would be to:
· Develop a programme of activities to engage young women and girls specifically
· Support development of our Community Space Challenge environmental project
· Plan, deliver and develop sports, arts, media and educational based activities and programmes to engage with young people through work within schools and other educational establishments,
· As above but during evenings, weekends and school holiday programmes and with partners from Youth Work team
· Support staff within the team and our pool of volunteer staff
· Develop plans for individual young people to help them achieve better outcomes
· Develop our partnership working all with the aim of ensuring young people reach their full potential.
