Workshop Provider
Envision supports a key age-group, 16-19 year olds in schools and colleges, to develop their own innovative and social and environmental projects around issues that are important to them. The projects that result not only achieve positive change but inspire their creators, and those around them, with their collective capacity to make a real difference.
Aims of The Launch 2010
The Launch starts the first ever Envision year in Bristol and aims to:
• Welcome the young people to the Envision programme
• Give the teams a buzz about being part of Envision
• Expand the young peoples’ horizon on issues of sustainable development and social justice
• Teach the young people skills that will help them to put their ideas into action
• Motivate and enthuse the young people to make a positive difference
• Give the teams an opportunity to meet each other, share ideas and feel part of a wider community of young people
• To demonstrate that young people do care about their communities and all they need is a platform to engage with their local communities
• For the teams to have fun!
Workshops at The Launch
At The Launch, Envision students have the opportunity to participate in two workshops. Each workshop must:
1. Have a practical application and explicit learning outcomes.
2. Equip the young people with skills that are transferable to other issues they might choose to focus on.
3. Workshops should be innovative and interactive.
Learning Outcomes from Workshops
We believe our method of learning by doing demonstrates an innovative approach to education and has been recognised by several bodies including being recognised as a Learning and Skills Network Citizenship Education Champion. We believe in using partnerships with experts in areas such as you to inform and educate young people around issues and build skills. Each workshop is encouraged to ensure that the following outcomes are incorporated in the session.
1. The young people should be able to understand how they can use the information gained in workshops to inform their peers and family.
2. Feel confident defending their point of view on the issue.
3. Leave workshops with practical tangible steps that they can take back to the rest of their Envision group to enhance their project.
4. Use the skills learnt in your workshop to transfer to their everyday lives.
