Involvement Opportunity: to help develop guidance on co-producing research

How can researchers, healthcare staff and public contributors collaborate to develop health and social care research in a more equal way?

We are inviting public contributors, healthcare staff and researchers to share insights from their own experiences of co-produced research, at workshops that we are running. Through these, we aim to develop and co-produce practical guidance with researchers, public contributors and healthcare staff, to help everyone work together and share power more effectively when co-producing health and social care research. For: Members of the public, healthcare staff and researchers with some experience of public involvement and co-production in research.  We will draw on everyone’s experiences to develop the resources.

What: Join us at our workshops that we will be running to share insights and experiences of co-producing research.  Following the workshops, we will draft resources and guidance and everyone will be asked for feedback on these so that we can co-produce the final resources.

Workshop dates are:
1.    Friday 23rd November 10:30-13:00
2.    Wednesday 5th December 13:30-16:00

Workshops will be held at NIHR CLAHRC West offices in central Bristol.  Public contributors will be paid for their time and for travel expenses.

If you would like to come along: Please email Michelle Farr (m.farr@bristol.ac.uk) and Rosie Davies (Rosemary3.Davies@uwe.ac.uk) by the 9th November 2018 if possible.  Please tell us what involvement and co-production experience you have had, and which workshop date you would like to attend. We have limited funding for this project so places at the workshops will be restricted and we want to ensure that there is a strong public contributor voice. If you are interested in the project, but can’t attend the workshops, please contact us and we can discuss different ways of getting involved. We are hoping to offer other opportunities to take part in 2019.

This project is being developed in partnership with CLAHRC West and People in Health West of England. It is funded by the University of Bristol Public Engagement Seed Funding.
