What is this course about?

This course is for organisations that want to develop a deeper understanding of their outcomes and gain more clarity on their approach to monitoring and evaluation.

We will look at why monitoring and evaluation is so important and how to develop robust system and processes to ensure that the impact of your organisation is captured, analysed and reported effectively. The course will help you with your application to the Bristol Impact Fund. During this course you will have an opportunity to explore the outcomes your organisation wants to achieve, and how you can measure it.

Who is the course for?

Staff and trustees, directors, and committee members.

•    This course will assist your organisation in developing your application to the Bristol Impact Fund. 
•    It is designed to help organisations understand and meet the councils baseline standards for Bristol Impact Fund grants.
•    In particular, this course is aimed at smaller organisations who have limited experience and/or capacity and who may not have applied for a council grant previously.

This course is a free course. However, it is only available for some organisations who are applying to Bristol City Council for the Bristol Impact Fund. To find out whether your organisation is eligible for a place on this course, please complete our online form and a member of our team will be in contact with you as soon as possible.

What will you learn? 

•    Why is monitoring and evaluation important to organisations and the Bristol Impact Fund
•    How recording equalities information relates to overall monitoring and evaluation of services (ie. to understand impact from an equalities perspective)
•    The importance of being outcomes-focused
•    Mapping outcomes, and how to use a simple theory of change to provides a framework for designing, implmenting and evaluating your impact
•    How to identify indicators to help you measure your outcomes
•    An exploration of the tools and systems to measure impact
•    Next steps: What you will want to consider when analysing and reporting your findings.

What else do you need to know?

This course will be interactive, and we invite you to use current projects/programmes/interventions to explore. It may be useful to consider beforehand what particular project/activity you want to evaluate, and what you want to achieve through that piece of work.

Please note the session will be recorded, however discussion sessions involving participants and Zoom images will be edited out of the recording. 

To take part you will need a laptop with a camera, microphone, and Wi-Fi. You won't need any extra software. You will be emailed an invitation with a link to join the online training before the course.
