CAREHOME VOLUNTEER TRAINING

I day Training Provided – No previous skills, experience or qualifications needed – DBS Check

Care homes are very busy, active places which are shaped by the many interesting people from all walks of life and backgrounds that work and live in them. This means as a volunteer there are many opportunities for you to use your skills, hobbies and interests to volunteer with them.

One of the most valuable things you can commit your time to is to support residents’ activities. This could be anything from one to one time with individual residents, supporting group activities or even preparing objects and materials for games and events.

If you are an outgoing person or belong to a community group, you could assist with or run an activity within the care home. Perhaps you belong to a knitting group? Or a religious group? Or maybe you can play the piano? Do you like gardening, nature, fishing, dancing? Care homes would love you to come in and share your skills or time with the residents.

The role comes with a days training on volunteering in care homes, this includes sections on how to communicate with people living with dementia, how care homes work and how and when to assist care home residents.

Whatever you like doing or are good at, you can put it to great use with care home volunteering. So please get in touch and tell us a bit about yourself so we can find you the perfect role.
