Are you over 18 and want to help restore part of Stoke Park's historic landscape? Please help us restore ‘Purdown Percy’, the WWII Anti-Aircraft Battery in Stoke Park Estate. It's a series of gun emplacements, underground bunkers and building foundations which have been designated as a Scheduled Monument. Together with Ecovigour we would like volunteers to take part in its conservation and have two dates to offer. It’s a great way to get some experience and be part of a conservation project.

Two dates are available for volunteers:
1. Tue 12 June, 9am to 3.30pm (break for lunch 12.30-1.00)
2. Thu 14 June, 9am to 3.30pm (break for lunch 12.30-1.00)
You can attend either a morning or afternoon session or the full day.

What to expect:
• Removal of vegetation from the scheduled monument, with assistance of EcoVigour personnel.
• Cutting of vegetation from around the monument area, including raking up of the vegetation for removal from the site.
• Removal or repair of sections of existing fencing.
• Some works will be supervised by an archaeologist.
• EcoVigour will supply all tools, equipment and work gloves.

You will be briefed on the work that is needed and fully supervised. You’ll be allocated tasks appropriate to your abilities and experience.

What to do:
• Register to volunteer (see below).
• Please bring a packed lunch. (Tea, coffee and biscuits supplied).
• Dress appropriately for the weather conditions and wear stout shoes / boots. Toilets and washing facilities are provided.
• Parking can be found at the Stoke Park Gate at the top of Lindsay Road (BS7 9NP). The meeting point will be EcoVigour’s compound on Sir Johns Lane near the BT Tower.
