Bristol’s Cultural Future

Friday, 16 December, 2016 - 10:00 to 12:00
Unitarian Church Brunswick Square, St Paul’s, BS2 8PE
Organised/hosted by:
VOSCUR, Bristol City Council and the Bristol Cultural Future Steering Group

Bristol has built a cultural reputation - bursting at the seams with innovative creative institutions and globally recognised art practice. There is strong support for its more established cultural sector but what of the thriving grassroots activity in different parts of the city and the benefit it plays in the health and wellbeing of people's lives. How do we better value and recognise these types of cultural interactions, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility? How do we amplify and embed the voluntary community sector into future cultural agenda? Which strategies could succeed for Bristol communities to practice and engage in arts, culture, heritage? How can we maximise partnerships between key arts providers and organisations that support people and communities to improve their wellbeing and social connections?

The conversation is co-hosted by Voscur, Bristol City Council and the Bristol Cultural Future Steering Group. It is for those across the community landscape whose work intersects with cultural activity. It will inform a new cultural strategy for Bristol. Through open dialogue, together we will build a picture of how to strategically approach culture in a range of things. It will be chance to discuss opportunities and challenges and for this to feed into the consultation process.

This event is free and refreshments will be provided.
