What is this course about?

We all make decisions, but often we can find them questioned, revisited, or not acted upon, either by ourselves or others. Sometimes issues seem to go round in circles and a decision never gets made.

If decision-making is an issue in your organisation or your professional life, this is the course for you.

We will help you evaluate your use of time in meetings and identify how to make effective decisions that stick.

What will you learn?

  • Pinpoint the qualities of an effective decision.
  • Explain why some decisions can be ineffective.
  • Identify four ways to improve the decision-making process and the potential barriers that might get in the way of implementation.
  • Plan to use ideas from this session in your next meeting.

Why is this relevant or important now?

We live in an age where information is available at the touch of a button, and we can gather people’s opinions quicker than ever before.

However, this can leave you feeling overwhelmed and unable to choose: the media has even highlighted the ‘indecision epidemic’ and the danger of ‘choice paralysis’, but you can’t always put off decision-making indefinitely.

Instead, learn how to prioritise between choices that can and can’t wait, separate the crucial from confusing factors and clarify how to ensure decisions lead to progress not further prevarication.

Who is the course for?

Trustees and staff who want to work on decision-making skills.
