What is this course about?
This course is about developing from a basic ToC to a more sophisticated model. The course will enable you to make the best use of your ToC.
Having set out your outputs and outcomes, add your assumptions and evidence to test and clarify key activities.
Extend the planned results to set out measures and indicators for evaluation.
Develop versions of the ToC for different audiences.
What will you learn?
This course will help you:
- What goes into a complete ToC – levels of detail, selecting what’s appropriate for different uses.
- Different ways to present and use your ToC, e.g. planning, evaluation, etc.
- Create a sophisticated model of ToC to support larger scale services or programmes.
Why is this relevant or important now?
Clarifying the outputs, outcomes and the assumptions that underpin your organisation’s work is increasingly required by funders, investors and comissioners. It also helps to ensure your organisation is focusing on the areas where it can have the most impact for service users, and this is especially crucial at the moment when almost all charities and social enterprises are under pressure due to Covid and increased demand. A clear ToC helps to ensure your group’s resources are deployed to create most social impact. It also helps to identify potential partnerships and collaborations by highlighting where working together with other organisations could produce mutual benefits.

What else do they need to know?
In order to benefit from this course you will need to have either attended “Theory of Change” or have already been involved in work towards a ToC for your organisation. Please bring your draft or current ToC with you. To take part you will need a laptop with a camera, microphone, and Wi-Fi. You will not require any additional software. You will be emailed an invitation with a link to join the online training prior to the course. Voscur is running all our training online due to the ongoing public health situation with coronavirus (or COVID-19). This decision was taken in line with local and national health advice, and to safeguard the health of our attendees and staff. We are aware that many VCSE organisations in the city are focusing their efforts on providing and changing their services to respond to communities. Cancellations:
If you cancel your place on a paid for training course you will need to give at least 2 weeks' notice in which case a full refund/credit note will be issued. Less than 2 weeks' notice will result in the full cost of the course being invoiced (not being refunded/credited), unless you can give the place to somebody else. If the place is transferred to someone else there may be an adjustment on payment/fee depending on their/their organisations membership status.
If you have been offered a free place, or the training you have booked is a free session: if you do not cancel giving at least 2 weeks' notice and you fail to attend (and are unable to send someone in your place) an admin fee of £25 will be charged, we will invoice you/your organisation.
