What does your organisation do?
We are a small local charity run by volunteers. Our aim is to provide blind and partially sighted people in the area with a sound magazine to bring a little colour, laughter and information into their lives by helping them keep in touch wirh activities and pastimes in a world that we take for granted.
Each month we produce an audio tape or USB memory stock with a varitey of magazine type articles including receipes gardening and general interest items together with some items of news both local and national.
Currently we have over 380 listeners who benefit from this service which is totally free of charge. Ages vary although many of our listeners are in their 70s and above and many look upon us as friends.
The magazine is recorded copied and distributed by a group of volunteers and delivered by the Royal Mail under their 'Articles for the Blind' service which, again, is free of charge.
