What does your organisation do?
Bristol Playbus is a mobile charity that has had fourty years experience of responding to the needs of the community.
Working proactively to identify areas of need and responding reactively to meet those needs.
Started in 1974 as a mobile puppet bus, Bristol Playbus operated for many years as a mobile resource actively promoting social inclusion, community cohesion and the importance of play.

Our services have adapted over the years to be able to offer a range of play opportunities to children and families who are suffering from deprivation, either socially, economical or through disability. Playbus currently provides a range of play and childcare services in partnership with other agencies to children, young people and their families in Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset areas.

We have three vehicles equipped to work with children aged 0-15 years.

The Playbus is a specially designed, fully converted Double decker to deliver pre-school education for under 5′s. The vehicle is registered with Ofsted and the Early years team are experienced and qualified in working with young children.

The Sensory truck is designed to give Sensory learning experiences to children with additional needs.

The Playranger van is kitted out for play sessions for 5-13 year olds. Carrying a selection of sports, arts and environmental play activities such as tree climbing, den building, outdoor cooking and fire building equipment.

We have a variety of large play equipment such as a geodome, a marquee and a large amount of ‘softplay’ equipment including a ball pit for under 5′s. A selection of sports equipment and giant games in addition to loose parts, Playranger and Early years equipment and all the necessary kit to carry out bookings for community fairs, playdays and festivals.

We work in partnership with other agencies inclucing WECIL , KHAAS and, Felix road Adventure Playground and Creative Youth Networks, to provide a professional integrated service.
