What does your organisation do?
YWCA is the leading charity working with the most disadvantaged young women in England and Wales.
At the Bristol Project we offer the following:
One to One Counselling: This programme offers short-term confidential councelling for women aged 13 to 30 who are on a low income. The services support young women who may be experiencing issues such as depression, anxiety, confusion about or issues related to their sexuality, relationship problems, domestic violence, rape, low self esteem, self-harm, eating disorders, bullying, etc.
Young Mums Counselling: We offer outreach counselling to young mums up to the age of 30, with a free creche service. The sessions take place at the Windmill Hill City Farm and The Park in Knowle.
Informal Education: we offer a number of groups offering informal learning:
- Priory Court Young Mothers Group: runs every Friday, with a creche, at a supported housing project in south Bristol. The group offers young mothers aged 15 to 26 a chance to develop new skills through informal education and accredited courses, and in-house OCN-accredited courses
- Malago Mums group: runs Thursdays in conjunction with Malago Play Association. The group provides sessional activities for young women to develop new skills, including accredited courses . Creche facilities are available to young women attending the group.
Young Women's Forum: This project will offer young women using any of our services a chance to comment on local and national programmes, to ensure their needs are being met and their voices are being heard at local and national levels.
