Following the very positive meeting focused on SEND in the summer, to further discuss the ideas raised  by the enthusiastic organisations involved, this follow up meeting will focus on:

Personal Budgets for disabled children and their families: How does it work, how can the sector respond to/ support this going forward?
Wikkis: multimedia approaches to self advocacy for disabled children and young people: how they work, how can short breaks and other service/ advocacy  providers get involved?

The Government is planning changes to statutory guidance around safeguarding children. It has opened a consultation around the proposed changes and is calling for feedback and input. The deadline is 31 December 2017.

The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry has announced that Bristol will be one of three new cities to offer Coach Core, the innovative sports apprenticeship scheme launched by The Royal Foundation during the London 2012 Games.

The new programme, for those aged 16-24 years, is due to start in November, with a recruitment day on Friday 3 November..

The Government is looking to better support charities and young people to participate in ‘full-time social action’. It is consulting with young people and the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector to find out how the full-time volunteering experience can be improved, and common barriers could be overcome.
 
The review will gather evidence on the current opportunities available, the current status of full-time volunteers, the impact of full-time social action on young people and their communities.
