Bristol City Council will be allocating £392,000 through the Bristol Impact Fund to empower communities to reduce disadvantage and inequality, using influence and participation as a way to achieve this.

Together with the Mayor’s vision for the city, and the Bristol Impact Fund objective to improve inequality and disadvantage, we are asking you as Bristol citizens what factors you think the new service needs to address to ensure communities can have a voice that is heard, thereby creating a more equitable city.

Date/Time:
Monday, 11 September, 2017 - 12:00 to 15:00

The West of England Civil Society Partnership (WoECSP) is a registered Community Interest Company established by Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise sector (VCSE) infrastructure and support organisations across the West of England . The partnership, originally established in 2011, brings together Voscur, CVS South Gloucestershire, The Care Forum, Voluntary Action North Somerset, Wesport, West of England Rural Network and the newly formed B&NES Third Sector Group.

The role of the Partnership is to provide:

A guide to the processes of commissioning. This guide was written for people who help others to write bids (e.g. staff in development agencies such as Voscur) but it may also be useful for groups who deliver services directly.

This briefing session is for Bristol community organisations and small businesses. It will include an update on the implementation of Bristol City Council’s Social Value Policy in its first year and what the policy has delivered to date. Participants will find out more about how the council asks bidders to offer social value in tenders and provide the opportunity to discuss their approaches to social value.

Date/Time:
Tuesday, 31 October, 2017 - 10:00 to 12:00

Losing vital funding that leaves the survival of your group in doubt is a difficult and stressful situation for you, your Board or Committee, your Staff and volunteers, and the people you support. This information sheet can’t cover everything but will give you somewhere to start.

Social value

Social value is the difference that organisations can make in not just what kind of services they deliver, but how they deliver them. Voscur works with commissioners who design and buy services, and VCSE organisations that would like to deliver services, to help them work together to create the most impact and social value through the delivery of public services.

This set of resources to help organisations collaborate provides support through the whole cycle of partnership development from research through planning to legal contracts:

What does social value mean? How do commissioners design services to create it? And how do organisations work to build it with their clients and communities?

This toolkit aims to bring commissioners and organisations together to agree what social value means and how to create more of it locally.
