Bristol City Council has announced its next steps for reversing the £5 million in savings from its Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) budget for 2018–19.

The reversal follows a High Court challenge brought by two families in which the judge ruled that the council should have consulted on the decision before it was made and that it was therefore unlawful.

Charities are being warned to be vigilant for scam emails claiming to be invoices from the Funding Regulator.

Invoices claim to be for Fundraising Preference Service costs and are being sent from a fake account: levy@fundraisingregulator.org.uk.

The Sporting Capital is a new social investment fund that focuses on supporting the sustainable development of community sports organisations.

The £3m fund is the first of its kind, and oers investment in the form of simple, repayable loans of between £50k to £150k.

Charities and other not for profit organisations have until 5pm on the 26th September 2018 to apply for grants of up to £80,000 to tackle youth loneliness in the 30% most deprived part of England.   Successful applicants will receive funding to explore youth loneliness in greater depth, test youth-led innovations within their existing provision, and share their learning as part of a national network.

The Government has launched a new £1 million Fund to help people from underrepresented groups gain the skills they need to work in digital roles.

UK registered charities, Community Interest Companies and credit unions can apply for grants of up to £5,000 to help disadvantaged people realise their potential.

Projects supported will be small, complete local projects lasting up to 12 months which provide innovative solutions to overcome social challenges for any group of people who cannot participate fully in society. Beneficiaries may be, for example, people on restricted income or who are rurally isolated or disabled.
