Bristol City Council is consulting on its Polling Districts and Polling Places Review.

The review identifies potential changes to polling stations and polling district boundaries. It also ensures proper and efficient distribution of polling stations to enable the democratic process.

Charity Tax Group is calling on interested organisations to join a working group that will review Gift Aid from a practical and strategic perspective.

The working group will complement and inform an existing HMRC-led Gift Aid working group and HMRC officials have tasked CTG with preparing a paper on this issue, with interim conclusions likely to be published by the end of 2019.

The total number of voluntary organisations remains relatively stable, but there is a notable growth among bigger organisations according to the latest UK Civil Society Almanac.

Despite the growth in bigger organisations, the voluntary sector is dominated by small organisations that operate locally. Eight in ten organisations have an income of less than £100,000.

Homeless Link and Housing Justice have launched a survey targeted at small charities (under £1 million income), community groups and/or faith-based groups working on homelessness. This is a chance to share your experiences, the challenges you are facing and your views on the government’s Rough Sleeping Strategy, as well as the hard work you are doing to help those experiencing homelessness. The findings will be shared directly with central government and will help identify what their key priorities should be.

The National Council of Volunteer Organisations (NCVO) has announced that Karl Wilding will take over as its new Chief Executive later this year.

He is currently the organisation’s Director of public policy and volunteering and will move into the role in the autumn.

 

The Fundraising Regulator has launched its new and improved Fundraising Code of Practice, which will come into effect in October 2019.

It aims to make it easier for fundraisers, charities and third party organisations to understand the standards expected of them when fundraising.
