The NHS Long Term Plan was launched in January to coincide with the 75th anniversary of the service.

It aims to improve the quality of patient care and health outcomes and sets out how the £20.5 billion budget settlement for the NHS, announced by the Prime Minister in summer 2018, will be spent over the next 5 years.

Charities are being encouraged to bid for £15 million in funding that has been made available through the Tampon Tax Fund.

The fund will be available to charities working with vulnerable women and girls and each successful project will receive at least £1 million in funding.

All grants from this round will be offered to charities for two year projects.

The Government has launched its new Loneliness Strategy in a bid to tackle what it calls “one of the greatest public health challenges of our time”.

Under the strategy, GPs in England will be able to refer patients experiencing loneliness to community activities and voluntary services by 2023.

A new report, based on the Voluntary Voices partnership's work with health and care commissioners and the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise sector (VCSE), has found that VCSE organisations play a pivotal role in delivering personalised care.
