The total number of voluntary organisations remains relatively stable, but there is a notable growth among bigger organisations according to the latest UK Civil Society Almanac.

Despite the growth in bigger organisations, the voluntary sector is dominated by small organisations that operate locally. Eight in ten organisations have an income of less than £100,000.

The National Council of Volunteer Organisations (NCVO) has announced that Karl Wilding will take over as its new Chief Executive later this year.

He is currently the organisation’s Director of public policy and volunteering and will move into the role in the autumn.

To mark Volunteers’ Week (1-7 June 2019), let’s examine the huge range of volunteers in Bristol. People of all ages give their time and energy to charities, community groups and social enterprises in the city and, without their contributions, Bristol would be a less supportive and inclusive place.

 This lunchtime briefing will provide the basic information required to ensure that you are operating within the Law as well as give you a chance to share experience with others.

NCVO has published a new factsheet aimed at preparing voluntary sector organisations for Brexit.

It sets out the main Brexit considerations for UK voluntary organisations as well as practical steps you can take to prepare for the post-Brexit environment, including:
