In 2015 Bristol is a more ethnically mixed city than ever.  As residents we all benefit socially, economically and culturally from that diversity. Ours is a stronger and more welcoming city because of this fantastic mix. Yet inequality and intolerance persist in undermining these strengths and benefits for both individuals and communities.

Bristol City Council (BCC) has recently published a commissioning plan for short breaks for disabled children and their families in Bristol. This plan was developed in consultation with service users and practitioners and was approved by the Mayor on 7 October 2014. The plan sets out the short breaks BCC will jointly fund with the Bristol Clinical Commissioning Group (BCCG) from April 2015.

September 17th will see a new era for ordering fresh food in the city as Real Economy, an offshoot of the Bristol Pound, launches its ordering tool for buying groups. The scheme is encouraging people in neighbourhoods to club together to order various fresh foods directly from local producers. 

The event will introduce suppliers to members and potential members and will offer a whistle-stop tour of how people can get together to order a wide variety of fresh and dried foods. There will be music and refreshments provided by local, emerging enterprises that are .

The meeting will be an opportunity to hear about Voscur's work 'Building Health Partnerships': how the voluntary and community sector can add value to health agendas. Hear about our work on preventing falls, and how Voscur has developed tools and resources to help up skill the VCS as a 'provider market.'  At the meeting we will also have reports from our Advocates on the Health and Wellbeing Board, Older Peoples Partnership Board and hear about local Healthwatch findings.
