Bristol Mayor, Marvin Rees has said that regrettably, cuts to council services are inevitable. However the public can have a say on how they will be made.
A series of consultation surveys and events (running from June - September 2017) will give you the chance to contribute to the process.
This is a follow-up from the Mayor’s ‘Big Decisions, Tough Choices’ consultation which took place from October 2016 to January 2017.  Voscur facilitated VCSE sector input into this discussion and also consulted with Voscur members through an online survey and direct discussions.
This paper summarises the constructive points raised in these discussions by representatives of Bristol’s VCSE sector. Several of Voscur’s recommendations were taken forward into this current round of consultations.
The council has proposed cuts in the following areas:
Bristol’s libraries
Public toilets
School crossing patrols
Neighbourhood Partnerships, and,
Bristol Community Links.
Bristol City Council will host eight separate consultation events for local people to hear about the proposals and then have a say in person.
The events are free to attend, and will take place in different areas, across Bristol. You can book via Eventbrite – simply click the links below. Spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
