South Bristol residents are being given the chance to be part of a unique and interactive funding event on 5 July at Ashton Gate Stadium, where local people, not funders, will have the power to choose the projects they feel have the most to offer their communities.

Throwing traditional models out the window, ‘Pitch Your Project’ will see between 10-15 local community groups give the elevator pitch of their lives in an attempt to walk away with funding of between £300 - £10,000.

This event, organised by Voscur and the Big Lottery Fund, follows on from the huge success of one in Burnham-on-Sea which saw 10 local groups awarded over £70,000.

Jenny Wildblood, Funding lead at Voscur says: “Voscur is extremely proud and excited to have attracted this funding - up to £70k - to South Bristol and we are on a mission to ensure that as many local groups and residents know about ‘Pitch your Project’ as possible.”

James Harcourt, England Grant-Making Director at the Big Lottery Fund, said: “We are delighted to support the Pitch Your Project event. The Big Lottery Fund is increasingly working in partnership with different agencies to support people who are making a difference in their local communities. And the fact that this is a first for us in Bristol is very exciting. It’s thanks to National Lottery players that we’re able to make this happen, bringing people together to share great ideas.”
