Social Value has been described as a way to ‘level the playing field’ for Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) organisations in commissioning and procurement processes. The Act was due to be implemented from January 2013 – the reality is that it has been a bit patchy across the country.

During last year, discussions between Bristol Compact, Voscur, Bristol Clinical Commissioning Group and Bristol City Council led to a draft Bristol Social Value Policy. As a result of all the changes in the public sector, this work has been delayed and is now being taken forward.
