Milestones Trust is a health and social care charity which supports people with learning disabilities, mental health needs and people living with dementia. The services are provided through a network of residential and nursing care homes and community services throughout the Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset areas.
We are looking for a volunteer to accompany a gentleman we support who has autism to attend Church in Combe Down (Bath) on Sunday mornings. Can you help?
The gentleman is 76 years old and was one of the first people in the UK to be diagnosed with Autism. He is a great person and lovely to be around, he doesn’t use many words but understands and is articulate in writing. This role will give him the opportunity to become a valuable part of his new community, whilst also having a friend to share the experience with.
The volunteer will complete induction, safeguarding and autism awareness training, and will be guided by the service manager and most importantly the gentleman we support. The volunteer will initially shadow a member of staff until they are comfortable with the role and all travel expenses will be covered.
If you are interested in this volunteer opportunity please get in touch, we would love to hear from you.
