Advice and Support Coordinator

Providing high quality advice and support to students through their academic journey and working with individuals to give expert guidance, information and empathy. Are you our next Advice and Support Co-Ordinator?

At Bristol SU we believe in supporting students to reach their potential and our Just Ask team is recognised by the University as a vital service to support students needing support around academic processes.

We’re looking for someone who is approachable, empathetic and has great attention to detail to join our team, supporting individual students at times when things aren’t quite going the way they had planned. You will work in the Just Ask team to ensure that Bristol SU is providing high quality information, advice and support services to its student members. You will answer enquiries from students on a range of academic and University issues, helping them to navigate processes, services and regulations to get the best possible outcomes. You will manage your own caseload, working with individual students who need independent and impartial advice.

You don’t have to have worked in higher education or in a students’ union before. But we are looking for someone with the passion to work in our fast-paced team to ensure that we can continue to provide quality advice. You’ll be experienced in advice or advocacy work with excellent interpersonal and time management skills. You’ll want to provide the best possible service for students using the knowledge gained from casework to improve processes and procedures within the University. You’ll have the ability to interpret and explain complex information in a clear and simple way and experience of producing written reports and presentations to a high standard.

Our team isn’t as representative of our student body as we’d like it to be so we’re particularly keen to hear from you if you’re Black, disabled, Transgender, working class or have any other marginalised experience. It’s important to us that we diversify our team and that students see themselves represented here.

If you want to know more about our team or our approach to inclusion, or you’re wondering whether you’d be right for this role, please get in touch via email to: bristolsu-people@bristol.ac.uk
