Volunteer Coordinator (Job Share) Maternity Cover 

We have an opportunity to join our Participation and Learning team to jointly lead on our volunteer programme, overseeing volunteering opportunities at 1625 Independent People.

What we are looking for:

  • You are a dynamic individual with excellent organisational. As a job share you will be jointly responsible for overseeing the recruitment, training and support of volunteers (including our mentors and young volunteers). 
  • You are very personable and have outstanding communication skills enabling you to liaise with volunteers, young people and other colleagues to develop and support volunteer opportunities across the organisation.
  • You are passionate about the value of volunteering and the chance to have a positive impact on the organisation and young people. 
  • You strongly believe in the value of involving service users at all levels of the organisation including volunteering and leadership. 

What you will be doing:

  • As a job share you will be jointly responsible for overseeing the recruitment, training and support of volunteers (including our mentors and young volunteers). 
  • Using your skills of building positive relationships with a wide range of people you will lead our VIP programme - identifying, developing and supporting volunteering opportunities across the organisation with a particular focus on involving young people as volunteers. Your job share will lead on our mentoring programme. 
  • You will supervise volunteers in a range of roles across the organisation and support their development and growth using your leadership and training skills. You will develop and deliver engaging training and presentations.
  • You will be in the Participation and Learning Team and your line manager will be our Team Leader for Participation and Volunteering.

  • Hours per week: 18.75 (this represents 0.5 FTE)
  • Working days: To be negotiated but ideally covering a Tuesday and Friday 
  • Contract type: Maternity Cover 
  • Pay: £ 25,481 – 27,041 per annum (pro rata)
  • The location: You will be based at Kingsley Hall, close to Bristol’s main train and bus stations as well as the vibrant city centre (with homeworking as necessary during the Covid pandemic)

Your Covering Letter is essentially your Supporting Statement and will form the most important basis on which your skills, experience and behavioural competencies will be tested against the job criteria.  Without it, your application cannot progress to the shortlisting stage. 

You should refer to the Person Specification document within the Job Pack and cover only the elements that are tested at this stage of the recruitment process.  Elements that only have the word ‘interview’ next to them will be tested at the next stage of the process and do not need to be covered in your letter.
